Physician Referral Service

Do you need a physician? Summa Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital provides a Physician Referral service. The service is available Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at 1-800-237-8662.

The Summa Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital Physician Referral Service:

• Provides referrals to physicians on the Summa Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital Medical Staff,
• Uses a registered nurse as a consultant if you do not know what type of physician you need,
• Can provide you with basic background information about staff physicians such as their education, training, age, board certification, office hours, location and phone.

The Summa Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital Physician Referral Service:

• Is not an emergency service,
• Cannot make appointments for you,
• Does not have access to insurance information such as whether or not a particular physician is a member of your insurance plan.

Things to consider:

• What type (medical specialty) of physician do you need? For example, a primary care doctor (family practice, internal medicine, pediatrician) or a specialist (dermatologist, gasteroenterologist, neurolgist, etc.)? If you don't know the type of physician you should see, the Physician Referral staff can help you choose.
• What criteria do you have for choosing a physician? For example, office location, office hours, board certification, age, etc.
